Between May and October 2025, Remian Diagnostics Limited, in partnership with Mount Kenya University, implemented an innovative adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) program in Trans Nzoia County aimed at improving access to confidential, youth-friendly healthcare services.

The project addressed major challenges affecting adolescents, including teenage pregnancy, STIs, stigma, limited access to trusted SRH information, and weak referral systems. By combining digital health tools, community outreach, and remote clinical support, the program strengthened early risk identification, counseling, follow-up care, and referral coordination.

A key innovation was the deployment of an offline-capable digital health platform used by Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), nurses, and peer educators to conduct confidential assessments, track referrals, and support remote clinician review. The project also introduced a confidential Youth SRH Hotline that provided counseling, information, and emergency support services for adolescents.

The initiative achieved significant impact within six months:

  • Over 30,000 adolescents reached through outreach programs
  • More than 7,500 confidential hotline consultations conducted
  • Over 2,800 safe referrals made to youth-friendly facilities
  • A reported 40% reduction in teenage pregnancies among participants

The project also improved trust in health systems, reduced stigma around SRH services, and strengthened the capacity of frontline healthcare workers and peer educators.

Designed for sustainability and scale, the model integrates with existing county health systems and can be adapted for other counties, school-based programs, and humanitarian settings across Kenya.
